It’s that time of year again. Summer. The kids laughing in the sunshine, water splashing at your feet at the beach, and you open the garage to get your boogie board, skis and lifejackets. Only problem is – the garage is a mess! Here are some tips to help you get motivated and clean out your garage!
Firstly, get rid of all that extra junk you don’t need! Throw out the items you haven’t used in years, and store the big items you won’t need for another year or so or what can be given away.
Take Advantage of Vertical Space
For the items that you’re not planning on putting into storage, use the walls to store them. This gets junk off of the floor and create visual interest on the walls. Make sure to group like items together so that they’re easily found when you need them.
Get Rid Of Junk
It’s likely that you have some items sitting in your garage that haven’t been used in years. Go through everything to determine what can be thrown out, what can go into storage for later use and what can be given away. This will help clear up some much-needed space in your garage. Plus, taking everything out of your garage gives you a better idea of the space that you have to work with.
Wash it All Down
Over time, your floors have most likely become dirty with dust and insects, so make sure you’ve washed them down once you’ve emptied the garage and before you re pack everything back in.
